[4488] Marriage bond spells the name with one "N"

Orphan court case files for William Pennington April 1781 Timothy Cummins is guardian of Jacob Pennington son of Wm 2/22/1781

George L Caley write to Ruth Stonesifer."1830 Jacob Pennington resided on the Landing RD now East Commerce Street." He quotes Thomas Scharf on page 105 of his 1888 History of Delaware, "Jacob Pennington was a member of the Friends (Quakers), owned a Slaughter House and an adjoining Property on the west end which one of his married daughters resided. He was also one of the Trustees of the Mechanics Academy."

On September 1, 1843 Jacob wrote his will in which he devised all of his real and personal property to his daughter Elizabeth Haughey. He probably died on March 26, 1845 and his will was admitted for probate on February 6, 1845

Jacob Pennington married a Rebecca Simpson 3/26/1791 Kent Co Vol 5 p 26

Son's cornorers report in 1825 mentions a Lydia Simpson as his aunt age 65. Maybe the sister of Rebecca.

Could be connected to a William Pennington

Subject: Births & deaths of children of Jacob & Rebecca Pennington

While searching for info concerning my Pennington's in Delaware I came
across this info & thought that I would post it. (just in case it helps
someone else.)

Film # 441393 - page 176 - Duck Creek Meeting notes

An account of the births and deaths of the children of Jacob and Rebecca
Pennington

Elizabeth Penington was born 4 Mo 6th 1803
Lydia Ann Penington was born 11 Mo 26th 1805
Rachel Penington was born 3 or 6 ? Mo 14th 1808
Lydia Ann Penington departed this life 4 Mo 9th 1806
Rachel Penington departed this life 7 Mo 29th 1808
Rebecca Penington wife Jacob Penington departed this life 9th Mo 13th 1812

I copied this word for word showing both of these spellings for the surname
Pennington/Penington although the line for Rachel showed 8 month (with the 8
crossed out and the 3 or 6 ? placed above it.)
