[2531] Ruth E Voshell notes Peter married Mary Miller had 4 sons, 1 daughter moved to Iowa 1835

Executor of father Probate in 1822. Peters children were born in Kent Co DE. Must have left DE after 1833 First went to Indiana then goes to Iowa.

Letter in the Turner File from Clarence Voshell 7/30/1913 stated he had a letter from a Voshell in Indiana several years ago. The inquiry was to learn about his family. Stated he ran away from home near Little Creek years ago. Clarence thought the first name was Peter.

Ginger Kruse supplied this information:
This is the info for The Peter Voshell Family Of Iowa
Peter Voshell born 1798in Kent Co. Delaware. He passed away April 1,1876 and was buried at the Stone School House near Volga City, Iowa (Clayton Co.)In 1824,he married Mary Miller, born. In 1802 at Kent Co. Delaware. She died June 7,1867and buried same place…. NOTE; the graves are in a fenced off area now, surrounded by a field. She was the daughter of Peter and Hester Miller. Peter and Mary were blessed with five children;
Francis B.
Jesse Barber
Killen M.
John Miller
Elizabeth (I do not have the “William”, I see listed on Ruth’s site, so will investigate that.)
Leaving Delaware, Peter and Mary started with their family for the West and in Ripley Co., Indiana, spent four years after which they continued on to Rock Co. Ws. Peter entered land from the government and opened up a new farm with the aid of his sons. In 1848,accomained by Killen, he came to Iowa on a prospecting tour and was so pleased with the country, that the following year, he brought his family to Fayette Co. Iowa. In Fayette Co. he obtained 240 acres. His first home in Iowa was a log cabin, but as his money grew, he provided many comforts and the cabin was replaced by a larger home. Upon that farm, he made his home until his death in 1876.He led a quiet life and was a member of the United Brethren Church. He supported the Whig Party until 1860 when he became a Democrat. Those who knew him respected him and the county suffered the loss of a valued citizen.

This should give a good start to my family members! My line is thru Francis B.and then William Webster Voshell,Luseva,(Luseba),Dorothy Thomas and me….I have found that there was a lot of marriages between the Voshell’s and Thomas’ in this area,so it can get very complex at times!!As I look thru more of my papers,if I find something else,will send it on…I live in Clayton Co.Ia and only about 25 miles from Wadena,Arlington area ,so still have a lot of Voshell relatives here.In fact ,my mom’s sister Nellie married Walter Voshell, and my dad’s sister married her son, Leroy Voshell, so my cousins are 1st cousins on the Gage side and 2nd cousins to me on the Thomas side! See, it gets very complicated, LOL!!!! Hope this gives a little bit of insight on this family/every thing I have seen on the Internet, has been wrong, and no one seems to find my mother’s family………..Best Regards, Ginger Gage Kruse
