THE RICHARD PENNINGTON FAMILY
!. RICHARD PENINGTON.
On 10 Feb 1743 Otho Othoson of CE Co., yeoman, because of he is moving and for the natural love and affection he has for his grandson Otho Penington, son of Richard Penington, late of said co., gives to him the said Otho Penington, a tract of 225 a. at the head of Sassafras River called Mr. Heath's Range, and several Negroes, cattle and furniture. {CELR 4:455}
On 28 May 1747 Otho Penington, Isaac Freeman, and W. Bott, received form Ann Freeman 26.12.10 in full for the moiety of Wm Freeman's estate and they indemnity her against any claims of said estate of the brothers and sisters of the said William Freeman.
Otho Penington, deposed at age 36 in 1748, grandson of Otho Othoson {CELR 1:321-323
Richard was father of Otho, b c1713
2. OTHO PENNINGTON, B C1712, SON OF Richard (1) Pennington, m Sarah (N).
Otho d leaving a will proved 26 May 1761. To five sons, Otho, Wheeler, Abram, Isaac, and Joseph Pennington, real estate, Execs were wife Sarah and friend Benj. Nowland. Witnessed by Hugh Mathews, James Beaird and Thomas Beard, JR {MWB 31:420}
On 20 Oct 1763 the admin account of his estate was submitted by Sarah Pennington Extx {MDAD 50:79
Otho was father of the following children: OTHO; WHEELER; ABRAM; ISAAC; JOSEPH."
The authors list this Richard Pennington as a progenitor.
My connections based on the St Stephens church records list a
Richard Pennington marries Mary Wheeler in 9/4/1711. Then
Otho son of Richard and Mary Pennington is born 1712. Then
William son of Richard and Mary Pennington is born 1714
Is this the right connection ?
Where does the Otho Othoson come in?
Is there another Richard Pennington who marries Othoson (There is a Mary Othoson dau of Garratt Othoson listed as born1/29/1720)
The Richard Pennington, son of Wm. and Mary Atkey Pennington born 1714 marries a Thomason Othoson. She is the dau of Otho and Mary Othoson. Richards died aft 1754. Did they have a child named Otho?
This would make sense and the authors have the two Otho Penningtons mixed up with the dates.
