Kristofor’s Song by Dan Foliart

Gary Herbig is a 1969 graduate of the University of Montana. He was in the ROTC program there but never got the opportunity to go on active duty. He works as a musician where one of his gigs is playing for the Warner Brothers Network show, 7th Heaven on ABC.

When Gary heard about Kris’ death, he wanted to do something nice for a fellow University of Montana student. He got together with Dan Foliart, the composer for 7th Heaven and suggested dedicating a piece of music to Kris. Dan liked the idea also. Gary called the University of Montana and the secretary at the ROTC Department called Kris’ dad to see what he thought about the idea. All agree that Kris’ memory would be honored by this tribute.

The musical score was aired on Season 6, Episode seven, Mary Comes Home on November 5, 2001 over the opening credits and after the first commercial break. We received an autographed copy of the score and a picture of the  performers, including Gary who plays the soprano saxophone.

On Father’s day 2002, an extended version of Kristofor’s Tiv. cue with orchestra (violins, violas, celli, double bass, French horns, trombones, bass trombone, and Gary on the soprano saxophone) arrived as a gift and tribute for Kris.

Playing the music helps me to associate just how happy Kris was living each day as it came to him. He liked to tell one of his friends, "No yesterday, no tomorrow, just today."

When he was a child, I used to remark that he was like ‘popping corn’. He was always off to capture some new concept or physical challenge he had just dreamed up. The music translates that buoyant attitude he developed for himself.

We were given permission to include this music on Kris’ web page. Both his father and I agree that this would be the music playing when Kris’ ashes are returned to the earth.

To play Kristofor's Song

You must have an audio player capable of playing mp3 audio files.  Windows Media Player will work.  This comes standard as part of recent versions of Windows.

You may be able to just (left) click here and have the song play as it is downloaded.  I have not been able to consistently do this with various browsers.   If (left) clicking does not work, follow the directions below.

1) Right click here

2) Select "Save Target As..."
("Save Link As..." for Netscape Navigator)

3) Click on "Save"

4) Select a folder where you wish to save the movie file.  Remember the folder name that appears near the top of the window!!!!!!!

5) When the download completes, navigate to the folder where you saved the file and double click on the file name to play the song.

The file is 536,764 bytes long and will take about 2 minutes to download using a fast dial up connection.  If you get errors, check the size of the file you downloaded using "properties".  If it's not correct you will have to download it again.
