Harold died at age 61 from cancer. He worked at Fort Miles, Lewis DE during the early part of WW II. He was not drafted for the war because he and Lillian had four small children. Later during the war, he went to work at the Dravo Shipyard in Wilmington DE. He moved to Wilmington and came home to his family on the weekends. Some months later, Lillian also moved to Wilmington and went to work for Bellanca Aircraft. At that time, their four children moved in with their grandparents, Clarence, and Laura, where they lived until they were grown and married. After the war, Harold returned to Felton to live with his children and parents. He operated the service station for a few years and then opened a restaurant [Harold and Libby's], which became their livelihood for the rest of their lives. They purchased a small home in Wildwood, NJ to which they vacationed for a few years. They sold it in 1969 prior to his death. In his early years, Harold attended the school in Felton DE.
