"Captain John Pennington's wife, Sarah (Newnam), owned "Pearl Land" or "Pierce Land" located at Ford's Landing on the Chester River in Queen Anne's County. They had three sons who also were Captains (The rank of Captain was derived from ownershipof coatswain enrolled sailing vessels engaged in transporting produce from the Eastern Shore). Ownership of vessels:
John Pennington - Schooner "Felicity" and Sloop "Dolphin";
Peregrine - Schooner " The Mechanic of Baltimore";
Joshua Schooner "Noah Richardson of Baltimore" and Sloop " General Andrew Jackson."
